TATTOO AFTERCARE

PLEASE CONSULT A PHYSICIAN AT THE FIRST SIGN OF INFECTION

How long should I keep my Saniderm on for?

Keep your Saniderm on for 3-5 days. If your bandage starts to leak, remove it and proceed with our aftercare routine. You may shower regularly.

Some people experience redness/discomfort around the edges of the bandage. If this occurs, please remove bandage immediately and follow our aftercare routine.

How do I remove my Saniderm?

The best way for Saniderm removal is in a warm shower with fragrance free foaming antibacterial soap.

Find an edge of the bandage and pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Pulling upward on the Saniderm can be painful, so we don’t recommend it.

To remove leftover adhesive, use baby oil in gentle circular motions to remove.

How do I wash, dry, and care for my tattoo?

Gently wash your tattoo at least twice daily (morning and night) with fragrance free foaming antibacterial soap using gentle circular motions.

Allow it to air dry for 5-10 minutes and apply a thin layer of lotion by gently massaging it into the tattoo in small, circular motions.

After the healing period is over, continue to use moisturizer and high SPF sunblock on it for the rest of your life.

What should I NOT do with my new tattoo?

Do not submerge your tattoo/bandage in water while healing: swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, oceans, lakes, saunas, etc. Wait at least 4-6 weeks before doing these activities.

Do not pick or scratch your healing tattoo.

Do not use petroleum based ointments on your healing tattoo.

Avoid wearing excessively tight clothing over your new tattoo.

Do not expose your tattoo to excessive sun during the healing period. Be sure to use SPF once healed.

Is it normal to have a sack of liquid in my Saniderm?

Yes. Saniderm seals in the plasma and keeps it in its liquid form, while still allowing your tattoo to breathe: another stage vital to the healing process. By keeping plasma in its liquid stage, it allows the fluid to do its basic function and heal the body through the use of its varied hormones and proteins. Remove if leaking.

How long does it take my new tattoo to heal?

New tattoo healing usually occurs over a period of a week to two weeks depending on your healing method and respective immune system, as well as tattoo size and placement.

A deeper, invisible healing maturation period then occurs, lasting anywhere from 20 days to 2 years.

Taking good care of your body and following a consistent aftercare routine helps for faster and better healing.

Your tattoo will typically be considered “healed” when the scabbing/flaking phase ends. At this point, your skin should feel relatively normal and healthy again.
